The Baby Banded Cat Shark is a juvenile bamboo shark with a slender, bottom-dwelling form, a blunt rounded snout, and distinctive dark bands across its pale body. These markings are especially prominent when young and typically become less pronounced as the shark matures. Sensory barbels near the mouth help it investigate food along the substrate, while its flexible body and broad pectoral fins are suited to moving close to the bottom.

At approximately 7.5 inches, this specimen is still young; plan for its potential mature size of about 40 inches rather than its current length. It is primarily a nocturnal predator, so provide ample floor space, secure hiding places, and a soft, smooth substrate that helps protect its underside. Its predatory nature makes it unsuitable for reef aquariums and small tankmates. This expert-level animal requires a spacious, carefully maintained system and thoughtful long-term planning.
