Please Note: Many similar species look alike when they are in the juvenile phase. While most juveniles we sell as goldenback triggerfish grow into goldenback triggerfish, some customers informed us that the juvenile triggerfish grew into linespot triggerfish after a year or so. When we sell a juvenile as a Goldenback triggerfish in the WYSIWYG section, you are buying that specific specimen, and we don't guarantee that it will grow into a goldenback triggerfish. It could be another similar species such as a linespot triggerfish or any similar triggerfish belonging to the Xanthichthys genus. It is a mystery when you buy a juvenile specimen; you buy at your own risk. If you are buying an adult, it is unambiguous. We receive these juveniles from our suppliers as goldenback triggerfish and they come from our Philippines shipments. If you are up for a mystery, buy these juvenile specimens and find out what they grow into. However, if you want goldenback triggerfish 100%, we recommend buying the adult specimen as it is easy to identify. If you want to get a goldenback triggerfish with 100% accuracy, we don't recommend buying juveniles. It is not easy for our suppliers or ourselves to accurately identify them to the species level.
