The Pastel Ring Wrasse (Hologymnosus doliatus) is also known as the Candy cane wrasse, Longface wrasse, Narrow-banded wrasse, Ringed rainbowfish and simply the Ringed wrasse. They are not a common wrasse on Tanzanian reefs but neither are they uncommon.

As with many wrasses the colouration changes dramatically as the fish ages from a juveniles into an adult.  At all stages of their development they are extremely attractive looking fish. The images below document the changes from a small juvenile below all the way through to a large adult male lower down in the post.

The Red Ring Wrasse (Phthirichthys reniformis) is a vibrant and hardy wrasse prized for its striking coloration and active personality. Known for their dramatic color shifts from juvenile to adult stages, these fish display brilliant reds, oranges, and distinctive ring-like markings that intensify with maturity. Red Ring Wrasses are excellent reef inhabitants, though they may occasionally nip at small crustaceans and polyps. They thrive in established aquariums with plenty of rockwork and hiding spaces, and benefit from a varied diet of meaty foods and quality flake or pellet formulations. Their energetic behavior and bold feeding response make them engaging additions to any marine setup. This WYSIWYG specimen is approximately 3.75" and represents a juvenile stage, offering years of growth and color development ahead. Arrives healthy and feeding.
